It was the first meetup, so it was normal that we spent the first 2 hours just looking for each other. After that we spent around 4 hours just talking about Touhou, anime and personal lives at Go Go Curry. The staff seemed cool about it. We didn't really do big activities, but I think it was a good sign that the members were preoccupied with conversations with each other anyway. Overall, I'm satisfied with this first meetup, even though it was small.

That's great news! Will they be cosplaying? I wouldn't want you to be the only Touhou cosplayer.

Nice. Although i think a group page would look a little better than a fanpage. (I know they sound similiar, but on facebook they are actually two different things, and have different layouts as well)

      October 19, 2013

    • Jason

I know what you mean, I'll probably be getting to that, too. Fan pages are a bit more accessible, though, as I know a lot of people who ignore group notifications, wheras fan pages appear more frequently on a person's feed. That's just my experience with liking anime-related pages, though.

Also people, remember if you got any great Touhou albums or doujins you want to show everyone, bring a flash drive so everyone can do some swapping. Same goes for obscure fan games and whatnot.

Maybe meeting up in Central Park? A lot of anime/cosplay groups I used to hang out with years ago liked meeting up there since there was so much open space and was fairly easy to get to

if i remember correctly theres a statue or something by that entrance. We can wait for everyone there and once everyones there we can head inside the park

      October 15, 2013

    • Jason

      Sure, let's go with that!

      October 15, 2013

  • Jason

Less than a week away, guys. If you have friends, be sure to drag them along! Again, cosplaying is encouraged, but be prepared for weird looks. Otherwise, bring whatever you want, as long as it isn't too cumbersome.

@ Vic I'll try doujinstyle. @Angelina The only cosplays I have are BRS and Hatsune Miku as Rolling Girl. Though, crossdressing at the first meetup might be a bit risky for me :P

      Cosplay a 7-11 Employee.

  • Jason

Anybody wants to recommend a certain place near Columbus Circle or Central Park to eat?

    October 15, 2013

  • Victor ~.

Wtf o.O? I thought you guys were just joking about the B.O. stuff, but your genuinely worried ? Lol who have you guys been meeting up with ? But back to the place idea, I agree a spot with WiFi available is important

    October 3, 2013

    • evil_lolikon

There is a laundromat with wifi in my town, so I wonder if they have that in manhattan too since its hipster central. We could always go to a lame cafe and listen to fake californian accents, they got wifi.

      October 3, 2013

    • Jason

      It's manhattan, wifi is everywhere.

Remember to use soap for fuchs sake. Come dressed in your finest garb as well! Wear your favourite shirts, patches, pins/buttons, etc. If you really want to show off a certain manga, anime, or game you enjoy bring it along in a format that wont let it be harmed by the outdoors. Having it on your laptop, easily able to scrolls through/demonstrate while you ramble on about it, is the best bet.

  • Jason

Lolikon brought up a good point; everybody shower before the meetup. Hygiene is a necessity.

Other than that, it is encouraged that everybody brings something cool they wanna show off as long as it isn't too much to carry. Dakimakuras and stress toys are discouraged, but t-shirts and weapons are cool. We are probably going to eat and then lounge in a restaurant. Any suggestions?

    October 2, 2013

  • evil_lolikon

Well since its a Touhou meetup we should probably discuss Touhou stuff. Recommend eachother some anime, manga, and good books on Japanese Culture / History. Just so this isn't a buncha smelly weeaboos walking around manhattan for a few hours.

    October 2, 2013

  • Jason

Alright, we got five! Try to drag your friends into this, maybe the turnout will be greater!

    October 2, 2013

  • Victor ~.

Lol shaved legs. Yea we need to throw out ideas what to do. If just hangout or do something.

    September 24, 2013

  • Jason

Crossplaying is allowed under the condition that you shave your legs. Otherwise, let's avoid the weird looks in public unless we get a huge turnout.
