The DC-based Democracy Collaborative emailed us to let us know about this free and exciting lecture coming on Thursday! It will be given by Gar Alperovitz, political economist, historian, co-founder of the Democracy Collaborative, and author of the forthcoming book, 'What Then Must We Do? Straight Talk About the Next American Revolution.'
As they wrote, "his lecture will highlight how, in an age of political deadlock and economic decay, hope can be found in the growing movement across the country to build a new, more sustainable and more egalitarian economy based in cooperation and community." Sounds like a pep talk the NC Progressive community needs after this mess our legislature and Gov. McCrory have made of our state in the past 2 months! Recyclique/CommunEcos & Transition Durham are sponsoring the event.
We'll meet up 15 minutes before the speech (7:15) and get seats together. I'll be wearing a gray Traction t-shirt. Hope to see you then! If you want more info, get it here: http://communecos.org/events/gar-alperovitz-visit-talks-on-mar-14-15/
