Did you know that (male) Greek historians, threatened by her power, misrecorded Hercules as a man when in fact she was a woman?
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
I'll be appearing as HERcules in the all-women arm-wrestling competition & fundraising extravaganza LUEWWD VI: March Badness. It's on March 24th at Casbah in Durham. It's a wild show and this year we'll be raising money for scholarships for girls to Schoolhouse of Wonder summer camps. I'm super excited about this for a few reasons:
I like muscles, and women, and crazy costumes, and especially all these things together. It's pretty much the coolest idea ever! I've been working out and putting together my costume and I expect to have a blast.
Also, outdoor summer camp hugely changed my life for the better and I think it can do the same for other kids. I think it's particularly important for girls to make strong connections to the Earth.
There's a $5 admission to the event (all of which goes to Schoolhouse of Wonder), and our entourages (did I mention I'll have an entourage? They'll probably be in armor, or togas) will be raising money from the crowd throughout the night. You can give to any contestant, or multiple contestants, though I'll give you some private info right now that I think HERcules is probably your best bet. Well, not exactly a bet. A donation! Did I mention that the fundraising is competitive too?
The event gets pretty packed, so to find us look for purple traction T-shirts, or me and my entourage (again with the togas/armor). Food trucks at 6:00pm, doors at 7:30, event at 9:00! Hope to see you there!
