"Los Remedios del Pueblo" (The People's Medicine) is an introduction to the traditional healing uses of plants and ritual from Mexico and the south-western United States.
This class will explore the social, curative, and spiritual role of the folk healer, el curandero, in Mexican and Mexican/American communities, give a basic overview of our roots in Aztec medicine and medical philosophy, learn some commonly used herbs (including their traditional preparation and applications), and introduce culturally specific ailments and healing rituals of Mexico and the American south-west.

[Carla Vargas-Frank is a practicing herbalist in Austin, Texas and teaches at the Wildflower School of Botanical Medicine. She is originally from southern Arizona.] This is part of the traditional healing path of the wildflower school of botanical medicine.
