Move Across 2 Ranges gives outdoor enthusiasts of all abilities, the opportunity to trail run, hike or stroll two beautiful mountain ranges in the Marana and Oro Valley area, the Tortolita & Catalina Mountain Ranges
Event Locations: Tortolita Mountain trails using the Wild Burro trail system
Romero Canyon to the Pools, Sutherland Trail and Canyon Loop Trail
in Catalina State Park
Massive Move Challenge: Two ranges, 21.5 miles in a single day
Distance/ Trail: 9.5 mile, round trip—Tortolita Mountain,
Upper Javalina & Wild Mustang trails
5.5 mile Romero Pools trail in Catalina State Park
6.5 mile Sutherland trail via the Canyon Loop trail
in Catalina State Park
Time: Check in: 6:30 a.m. Start time: 6:45 a.m.
Mega MOVE Challenge: Two ranges, 15 miles in a single day
Distance/Trail: 9.5 mile round trip—Tortolita Mountain,
Upper Javalina & Wild Mustang trails
5.5 mile Romero Pools trail in Catalina State Park
Time: Check in: 7:00 a.m. Start time: 7:15 a.m.
Major MOVE Challenge: Two ranges, 10 miles in a single day
Distance/Trail: 4.5 mile round trip—Tortolita Mountain, Wild Mustang
5.5 mile Romero Pools trail in the Catalina’s
Time: Check in: 7:30 a.m. Start time: 8 a.m.
Mighty (My Size) MOVE Challenge: Two ranges, 5 miles in a single day
Distance/Trail:: 2.5 mile round trip—Tortolita Mt, Upper Javalina trail
3 mile Canyon Loop trail in Catalina State Park
Time: Check in: 8:15 a.m. Start time: 8:30 a.m.
After the Challenge we will have a “Managed the MOVE” party to honor all participants! There will be hors d'oeuvres, prizes and live music, & fun! The “Managed the MOVE” celebration will be held in beautiful Oro Valley, Arizona beginning at 3 p.m., with prize drawings beginning at 4 p.m.
Total registration Fee: $45 before February 19, 2013
Additional party tickets: $10 each
Additional t-shirts: $15 each

More info: the Parks & Rec dept has obtained a group rate for participants at the Oro Valley Hotel & Suites. This hotel is located near the final trail near Catalina State Park. The group rate is $95/night (normally $135). Mention the event when you book it. The website is:

This hotel is very close (1 mile) from the after-party at "The Keg Steakhouse & Bar". Although it's a steakhouse, the lady from parks & rec I spoke with said she will try to have Veggie and Gluten-free options available too. :-) http://www.kegsteakho...

I like to know the trail details when I do these. According to this map if you're doing the "Romero Pools" segment, it's about 5.6 miles, 900 ft elevation gain, it-and-out style.
