Spur Cross to the Dragonfly Trail

Join us as we travel through Spur Cross Ranch to the Dragonfly trail. Along the way we'll see gorgeous Sonoran desert, lush riparian areas along the actual Cave Creek and hopefully a multitude of dragonflies! You're encouraged to bring snacks, sun protection of some sort and must bring at least 2+ liters of water per person and sturdy hiking footwear.
DISTANCE: 3.5 miles round trip
ELEVATION GAIN: 300+ ft
DURATION: 2+ hours
TRAIL STYLE: Loop
DOGS: Yes if leashed.
FACILITIES: Portable bathrooms, no plumbing.

DIRECTIONS: From the intersection of Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road head north on Cave Creek Road about 2.5 miles to Spur Cross Road. Turn north for approximately 4.5 miles to the public parking area and park there. (Note after the first 3 miles the road turns to all-weather graded. The last 1.5 miles can be confusing; continue north on the graded road past the green house, through the tall gateposts and on past the horse corrals to the signed public parking area on the right). We'll meet in the gathering area past the map and payment drop box. There is a $3.00 per person entry fee for this park via a drop box, be prepared with singles as you cannot get change. Children under 16 are free!

To late today there has to be some car pools for these hikes.eveything is quite a ways from my home.ive got to drive over 50 miles to get to this hike..the miles are killing me !cant make most weekends because of work...
