Join me for an eveninghike up Shaw Butte. We'll start at the Visitor Center and take the #100 trail into the preserve. When we hit the #306 trail, we'll take it CLOCKWISE . We'll go up to the summit and then back down the other side. The beginning is flat which allows for a warmup. Then we will hike a short steep climb to a saddle which will then take us to Shaw Butte. The majority of the climbing is packed into the middle and it's very steep with some loose rocks. From there we will hike to the summit, take a break, and then head down the other side of Shaw Butte. You're encouraged to bring snacks, a camera and at least 2 liters of water per person and sturdy hiking footwear. You should also bring a flashlight and/or a headlamp.
