Lost Dog Wash to Taliesin Overlook

This hike is rated INTERMEDIATE.

We'll be hiking the McDowells this week from the Lost Dog Wash trailhead. Our route will take us through beautiful isolated desert trails. A sudden vista at the Taliesin Outlook opens to unique views of the city of Scottsdale, Frank Lloyd Wright's home and Taliesin West.

We'll stop along the way and take a longer break at the top. You're encouraged to bring snacks, sun protection of some sort and must bring at least 2+ liters of water per person and sturdy hiking footwear.

DISTANCE: 4.5 miles roundtrip
ELEVATION GAIN: 400 ft
TRAIL STYLE: In-and-out
DURATION: 2.5 hours
DOGS: Yes, if leashed.

DIRECTIONS: From Via Linda and 124th St in Scottsdale, head north on 124th until the road ends at a small circle. Enter the preserve by continuing north into the dirt parking lot.
