This hike is rated DIFFICULT.

Come out for an evening hike on the Ranger Trail, part of the 2013 Phoenix Summit Challenge! This route offers us a strenuous workout but rewards us with a fantastic night time view from the ridgeline along the National trail. We'll continue on to Goat Hill and pause at the top for a bit before heading back down the same way. You're encouraged to bring snacks, a camera, and must bring at least 2 liters of water per person and sturdy hiking footwear. You should also bring a flashlight and/or a headlamp as we'll be in the dark for much (or all) of the hike depending on the time of year.

DISTANCE: 4 miles roundtrip
DURATION: 2.5 hours
TRAIL STYLE: In-and-out style
DOGS: Yes, if leashed.
FACILITIES: Water fountain & bathroom (maybe locked at night)
WEBSITE: Trailmap
DIRECTIONS: From Central Ave and Dobbins Rd, head south to enter the park. Pass the entrance gate and head into the preserve. Follow the roads on this ramada map to the Five Tables picnic area and park by the Ranger trailhead.
