Come out for a hike along the Marcos De Niza Trail at South Mountain! We'll start along the Pima Wash / Pima Loop and take those until they merge with Beverly Canyon. From there we'll intersect with the Marcos De Niza and climb that to the top. We'll go down the other side of Marcos De Niza to complete our loop back to the trailhead. You're encouraged to bring snacks, cameras, and must bring at least 1+ liter of water per person and sturdy hiking footwear.
DISTANCE: 3.5 miles round trip
ELEVATION GAIN: ~400 ft
DURATION: 2 hours
TRAIL STYLE: Loop
DOGS: Yes, if leashed.
DIRECTIONS: Follow the Google map link above to Pima Canyon Rd and park in the lot at the end of the access road. It's a little tricky to find, best route: I10 exit 157, west on Elliot Rd, north on 48th st. Pass Piedmont Rd, then after passing La Mirada Way turn left to stay on 48th St. (Note that last turn is not at a light and can be hard to notice). Make another immediate left onto Pima Canyon Rd. You'll see the gate, kiosk and some golf courses as you enter the preserve.
