This hike is rated INTERMEDIATE.
This is a beautiful and scenic trail, with lush desert foliage, views of North Scottsdale and two outlooks pointing to all surrounding major mountains. The trail itself is a line over the peak and down the other side, there are no intersections so you can't get lost and you can turn around early if needed. The trail is on the high end of INTERMEDIATE if you do the whole thing. You're encouraged to bring snacks, sun protection of some sort and must bring at least 2+ liters of water per person and sturdy hiking footwear.
DISTANCE: 4 miles roundtrip
ELEVATION GAIN: ~400 ft twice.
DURATION: 2.5+ hours
TRAIL STYLE: In-and-out style.
DOGS: NO, sorry dogs are not permitted by this park!
FACILITIES: Bathrooms and water fountains.
DIRECTIONS: From Pima Rd and Happy Valley, head east on Happy Valley, go North on Alma School, then make a left on Pinnacle Peak Pkwy. The entrance is on your left. Parking is tight so arrive early. You may have to park on the street and walk up to the trailhead.
