Evening hike up and around Lookout Mountain

This hike is rated  INTERMEDIATE to DIFFICULT.

Join me as we hike up and around Lookout Mountain! We will hike into the preserve until we reach Lookout Mountain to an unmarked trail. This trail will lead us up the front of Lookout Mountain.  Expect this portion of the trail to be steep, rocky, and in some area's narrow with steep drop offs. Once we are closer to the top, expect some scrambling. Once at the top, we'll enjoy the spectacular nighttime views for a bit before heading down. Coming down from the summit, we will take the backside of Lookout Mountain which is trail #150. We will then go counter-clockwise on trail #308 around the mountain until we reach the parking lot. Bring lots of water 1-2 liters and a snack. You will need to bring a flashlight and/or a headlamp as we'll be in the dark during this hike.

DIRECTIONS:From the Loop 101, take Cave Creek Rd South until you reach Sharon Dr. Make a right on Sharon Drive (heading West) until you reach 18th St. Make a right on 18th St until it ends. The park is on the right. Meet infront of the bathrooms.

From Interstate I17 , take Thunderbird Rd East until you reach Cave Creek Rd. Make a left on Cave Creek Rd until you reach Sharon Dr. Make a Left on Sharon Dr to 18th St. Follow the same instructions as listed above that is highlighted.
