Hike Promenade Trail to the Dixie Mine Trailhead
Length: 6.8 miles
Style: Point to Point
Elevation: 900 feet
We will be starting at the service road by CopperWynd Resort. The trail starts off rolling through washes, and then gradually gains elevation to become the Promenade Trail. Once on the Promenade Trail, it levels out for great views of Fountain Hills and the McDowell Mountains. The Promenade will turn into the Sonoran Trail. This is where the difficult comes in. The Sonoran Trail switchbacks to gain elevation and then looses elevation several times as it climbs and decends several hills. We will be in a nice gentle downhill grade once we traverse the hills on the backside of Sonoran. Sonoran will join up with Dixie Mine which will roll in a slight downhill grade to the Dixie Mine Trailhead.
We will turn around and go back the way we came. Just kidding! I will arrange a car shuttle based on the number of hikers to park a car or cars at the Golden Eagle Trailhead which is only a few miles from Copperwynd.
Bring plenty of water, snacks, sturdy hiking shoes, a camera, and a "Get er done attitude."
Dogs on leash, children with hiking experience, friends and family are always welcomed.
