Evening hike to North Mountain from 7th St. and Thunderbird

This hike is rated INTERMEDIATE.
This will be a joint event with Phoenix 2hr Beginner Hikers. Come out for an evening hike from the North Mountain Visitor Center to the summit of North Mountain! We'll take the #100 trail and then catch the #101 trail, which will take us over to North Mountain. We'll start out on a flat trail and then there's a gradual uphill climb, but once we reach North Mountain, it is a strenuous (steep!) climb, but it is on the paved service road. We'll hike it at a MODERATE PACE, not fast. At the top we'll enjoy stunning views of Phoenix at night and then head back down the way we came. You're encouraged to bring snacks, cameras, and must bring at least 1+ liter of water per person and sturdy hiking footwear. You should also bring a flashlight and/or a headlamp as we'll be in the dark on this hike.
DISTANCE: 4.2 miles roundtrip
ELEVATION GAIN: 600 ft
DURATION: 2 hours
TRAIL STYLE: Up and back
DOGS: Yes, if leashed.
FACILITIES: Bathrooms and water fountains
DIRECTIONS: From I 17 hwy, Exit Thunderbird Rd heading East. Make a right at 7th St. On the right hand side about 1/4 mile up you will see a turn for the North Mountain Visitor Center. Turn in there and meet group at the circular cement bench.
