Telegraph Pass to Lookout - South Mountain

This hike is rated mostly BEGINNER with some INTERMEDIATE.
Come join us as we hike Telegraph Pass to the saddle then turning onto the National Trail West to the Lookout where there is a wonderful view of downtown Phoenix and Awhatukee. This is a great hike for beginners to test their skills since it starts out very easy and ends as an intermediate hike due to the climbing that is packed on during the last half mile. You should bring a camera, and must bring 2+ liters of water per person and sturdy hiking footwear.
DISTANCE: approx 3 miles roundtrip
ELEVATION GAIN: ~ 540 ft to the saddle plus a little more to the lookout
DURATION: ~ 2 hours
TRAIL STYLE: In-and-out
DOGS: YES, if leashed.

Directions:
Use this address for GPS 761 South Desert Foothills Pkwy, Ahwatukee, AZ.
From I 10 towards Tucson from Phoenix take exit for East Chandler Blvd. Follow until you come to a 3 way stop and turn left continuing on Chandler. (If you don’t turn you end up on Ray Road.) Continue on Chandler for about 2 miles. At light turn right at light onto S. Desert Foothills Pkwy.
You will pass school on left. Parking for trail is on the right at the crest of the hill. If you get to 4th Street you’ve gone too far.
