Long Hike in the McDowell Preserve

We'll meet near the restrooms at the Gateway entrance to Scottsdale's McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

For the hike we'll start out on Saguaro Trail, left on Gateway Loop Trail, straight onto Windgate Pass Trail to Windgate Pass, continue on Windgate Pass Trail, straight onto Windmill Trail, right on Coachwhip Trail, right on Dixie Mine Trail, continue onto Prospector Trail, left on Bell Pass Trail to Bell Pass, continue on Bell Pass Trail, left on Gateway Loop Trail, left on Saguaro Trail back to where we started.

Note - a fee is required to enter McDowell Mountain Regional Park (the Coachwhip and Dixie Mine Trails are in the Regional Park).

Trail Length: about 13 miles
Elevation Gain: about 1550 feet
Cumulative Elevation Gain: about 2000 feet
Difficulty: Difficult
Facilities: at TH
Trail Style: loop
Dogs: Yes, if leashed
