Tumbledown 10K (RACE)

Are you ready to challenge the trails at Cooper’s Furnace and Pine Mountain?  The START is 720 feet of elevation and the summit is 1562.  Be prepared for a strong climb!  Once at the summit, the race FINISH is at the east loop of Pine Mountain and follows the Cooper’s Furnace nature trail back to the start.  The start and finish will be at Cooper’s Furnace Day Use area next to the Etowah River.

The route is 80% single track in a rough figure-eight. This is a trail race and distances are not exact.  This is a great trail for trail runners. It is not groomed and it is not flat.  This will likely NOT be your 10k PR! --but hey, kill it and prove me wrong. :-).  Be prepared for a good challenge.  When you cross that finish line, you will know you have done something!

Training Runs: There will be one or two training runs. The Cooper's Furnace area is closed until Spring, so training runs will start from Pine Mountain East loop.  Separate directions will be available.

I liked the course, and this gave a new area to explore as I was unware of the existence of this little gem until now. I would have liked for this to have been even longer, maybe a half marathon distance or so.

Nice. I wouldn't be surprise if John makes that happen in the near future!

Hey guys. I have to go to a wedding out of town and need to transfer my race entry for the Allatoona Creek 5K Trail Run on 4/19/14 ( Let me know if anyone wants to race in my place. GREAT race...lots of cool swag and I really hate to miss this trail. I paid the early $30 so that's all it would be. Feel free to spread the word if you know anyone who may be interested!
