Joe, what part of town do you live?

I am entered in the 10 miler, but hurt my knee in the dark this past Saturday on the Appalachian Foothills trail in West NC. So if the race does close out and I am not healed I may have a number for someone. If I do run I will be running slow and steady, look forward to seeing you all this year (missed you at last year's race).

AH3 = Atlanta Hash House Harriers. Without too much endorsement Google them or Pine Lake Hash House. I do two or three a year.

Tomorrow will be nowhere near as cold as last year. Expect low 50s under sunny skies at race time (8:30 a.m.). Perfect weather for a run in the woods with a few hundred of your closest friends :)

Hey everyone! This will be my first trail race. Is there anything that I need to know that's different about trail races versus regular 5K and 10K events? Do they have water stops or do I need to bring a water bottle?

    1 · November 1, 2012

    • Deborah

Hi Joe--in a few words..."watch your step"! This course likely to be rocky. Take your time...most folk run a pace a tad bit slower than on road--especially if new to trail running. Are you registered for 5.5 or 10miles? Yes, as stated by others, there are 3 water stops this year! -but you can certainly bring your own. Looking forward to meeting up with everyone.

Thanks everyone for the tips! Such a helpful group! :) Just getting my feet wet with the 5.5 this time. I'm actually using this as cross-training for the Thanksgiving 1/2. I'm definitely pumped and can't wait to meet everybody!

I am in for the 10 will be slow and steady as I have not been running trail much lately :( Looking forward to meeting up with you all. Is there a meeting spot (maybe outside the restroom facilities or the waffle house tent if there is one this year) before start time?

    1 · October 29, 2012

    • Deborah

I think you are right! Big Creek wasn't too tough a challenge. Then again I only run the 5.5. Vision Trek was the hardest 10k EVER!
