Join us if you dare on a spooky trail around the village of Pluckley. Recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the most haunted in Britain, the Kentish parish is home to as many as 14 ghosts.
Our route will take us by the churchyard of St Nicholas's, haunted by at least two ghosts, the White and Red Ladies of Dering. We will then make our way to Rose Court and to Greystones House, the homes of two apparitions: a woman and a monk who was the object of her unreturned love.
The village's ruined windmill is claimed to be haunted by the black ghost of its former miller and at Maltman's Hill we will watch out for a phantom coach and horses said to ride through there. Along the way there is chance too that we will encounter the ghosts of a gypsy woman, a schoolmaster, and a colonel.
Heading westwards we will journey through the so called 'Screaming' woods, where a highwayman is said to have met his end, and where the screams of others lost in the forest (without a map and compass) can still be heard. As the evening draws in we will find sanctuary a local pub where can share our day's other-worldly experiences.
