Join us as we explore the scenic woods and meadows of Godalming in Surrey.
Heading out from a country town with historic buildings dating as far back as the Saxon era, our walk will begin with the beautiful meadows of the Surrey Wye Valley. From there we will head into a landscape of gentle hills covered with an alluring patchwork of fields and woods. Underlain by greensand rock, large areas have been left to the wild by past generations, bequesting appealing vistas to the present day. Views from the hills here stretch across much of the county and beyond.
The beauty of the district has attracted numerous notable people over the years, including 'Brave New World' writer Aldous Huxley, and Everest explorer George Mallory, whom some believe may well have been first to reach the summit.
As usual we will celebrate the day's adventures by returning to Godalming for food and drink in a local pub.
