Join us as we head for the forests and pastures of the scenic Tillingbourne Valley in Surrey. Located between the hills of the North Downs and the Greensand Ridge, the valley is a picturesque meeting point of steep chalk slopes on one side and gradually rising sandstone terrain on the other.
A quintessential rural English location, the Tillingbourne Valley has been a favourite with Hollywood movies. Films including Bridget Jones, with Renée Zellweger, and The Holiday, with Jude Law and Cameron Diaz, have been attracted by its pretty villages set amidst an idyllic mix of woods and fields.
Starting from Gomshall, our trail will take us by the historic village of Shere, with more than thirty listed buildings dated prior to the Victorian era. We will then walk along the chalk ridge that runs the length of north side of the valley. A moderate climb will see us experience magnificent views stretching far beyond the county.
At the day's end we shall mark our adventure by celebrating in a local Surrey pub.
