It's a Trashy X-mas

It's that time of year....Second Annual Trashy X-mas. This was a huge success last year, let's build off of that and make this year even better!!! Come out and join us for some awesome handmade stuffed pastas and gnocchi with fresh, organic, local ingredients from Regal Ravioli. Or, if pasta is not for you, The Flying Carpet offers some VERY tasty Moroccan soul food. Get your peepers on the menus here...

http://www.regalravioli.com/
http://theflyingcarpetaustin.wordpress.com/menu/

This is a BYOB event. Regal Ravioli shares an awesome indoor dining space with the Flying Carpet, so don't let the weather scare you away from what's going to be a great event.

The night's festivities will include a White Elephant (Yankee swap) gift exchange and NEW this year, ugly x-mas sweater contest!

If you don't know what a White Elephant gift exchange is...listen up

1. Everyone bring a unmarked wrapped gift that will be placed on a table upon arrival.

2. After we eat and have a few beverages, a hat is passed around with numbered slips of paper 1 to the number of guests bringing gifts.

3. The person drawing the number 1 picks a gift from the table and unwraps it.

4. The person drawing number 2 then decides whether to steal the gift from the previous person or take a new one from the table and unwrap it. The person having their gift stolen has the choice to steal another gift or take one from the table and unwrap it.

5. This continues in order until everyone has an unwrapped gift.

6. Gifts cannot be stolen more than 3 times.

No themes on the gifts. Gifts can be old or new. Please value the gift between $10-$25 to encourage stealing!

The winner of the ugly sweater contest will win a stocking full of goodies, (roughly $50 value.) Hit the thrift shops, ebay, etc and find that gift everyone will want!  See you at the event.

Merry Christmas!

How this is going to work tonight....
When you arrive with your wrapped gift, Find me and you will be given a number and a number will be placed on the gift itself. Once it is time to start, randomly a number will be selected to begin. You will chose a gift from the pile and announce the number. Each gift can be stolen only 3 times. See everyone this evening!

I am considering a "bus" adventure from Lamar and 183
I think it might be fun to try.
Anyone want to join me in a bit of adventure?

    PARKING!!!
Parking is going to be tight with 69 people attending. If carpooling is an option, please do so. The trailers have a small lot, and Zach from Regal Ravioli suggests finding spots in the neighborhood, and used the park across the street behind Habanero's in the past. I would avoid using Church's Chicken...you maybe towed.

I'd be up for carpooling. I live north but will drive south to meet-up.

I believe we are set to have the largest event to date! The weather looks as if it is going to be in our favor letting us eat outside as well as in. Once everyone has (at least) placed their food order, we will start the gift exchange, I'd like to get started around 8:30-9. The stocking is stuffed for the Sweater contest. See you in your finest digs on Wednesday.

2 weeks away, hope found that gift everyone will want! You don't need to bring a gift, but only those that bring a gift will take part in the exchange, obviously.

I adore white elephants and I have the perfect ugly Xmas sweater vest (even better, right?) I've been saving for YEARS just to wear to an ugly sweater party. I kid you not.

Please tell me you will wear "the wig" as well...

No promises but some infused bourbons may make the party.
