Welcome to the Trailerettes Women's Vintage Trailer Camping Group! Come on in and set a spell and find out what we're all about. We're a group of women from Northern California and Nevada, from all ages and walks of life who love to get out and about and go camping and socialize and have fun with our fellow Trailerettes. Our group was founded in January, 2010 (not 2012 as stated on Meetup). We welcome women, aged 21 and up to join us on camping adventures in Northern California, offering camaraderie, support and safety in numbers. We usually hold at least two "open" campouts each year; meaning you can bring your spouse, significant other, or friend with you as your guest. This is a canine friendly group as long as your pooch is well behaved and non-aggressive. A campout can have as few as 3 participants up to 28 or more in attendance. We have members in the Northern, Central Valley, L.A. and Sierra regions. We hold about 5-6 campouts per year, which generally start in March or April, are held Friday and Saturday nights, and most of us pack up and head back home on Sundays, to return to our jobs and daily responsibilities at home. To date, we have not planned any out of state or area campouts. Most of us are still working and have limited vacation time to take extended trips. We start winding things down in the Fall, but do offer an early December campout by the coast, then start up again the next spring! Most of us tow our vintage trailers, and that is pretty much our theme, from the 1950's canned hams up to the 1970's boxy type trailers, but we also welcome not so vintage trailers and new trailers too. Past camping trips have been to Coloma, Duncans Mills, Graeagle, Lake Tahoe, Pine Grove, Petaluma, Calistoga, Coastanoa, Lodi, plus we've had non camping get togethers each year. Membership dues are $15 annually, due by January 31st of each year. If you attend your first campout and decide this isn't the group for you, your dues will be refunded. Otherwise, membership fees are non refundable. Members must abide by the group rules. Any questions or for a membership form to be sent to you, please contact Margaret, the Chief Trailerette via the contact link on the left of this page.
Why do you charge a membership fee? The membership fee helps to pay for the Meetup site, which is $150 per year. It also helps to pay for prizes such as trophies and plaques for various contests, wine and spirits and paper goods and utensils at our Friday evening social hours, activities, etc. We also only want "real" members to join our group; not looky loos, stalkers or spammers who may have dishonest intentions. A membership fee dissuades this type of activity.
Why do you have rules and policies? The founder of the Trailerettes has almost 30 years background working in the medical field, 9 years working in the "Trauma" specialty. Over the years, she has witnessed situations where patients have unfortunate accidents that are due to the consumption of alcohol and people making unwise decisions. The rules of no drunken or obnoxious behavior is to protect the group's best interests and to ensure that everyone is comfortable and has a good time. We live in society where people are very quick to sue one another for injuries/accidents. The membership form gives us your family contact information in case of an emergency, but also, there is an injury waiver, that the group or leader will not be held responsible in case of an injury or accident. If you don't agree with our policies, that's okay...you are free to find a group elsewhere that is more to your liking.
Thanks for your interest in the Trailerettes!
