Cave of the Winds lantern Tour (a little change of pace)

THOROUGHLY! Thanks! :)

I am charging 50% ($10.00) of the entrance fee as we have a group reservation (the entrance fee is $20.00 if we maintain at least 15 people minimum going - 18 maximum per Cave tour rules), just to ensure that people are serious about attending. This will be non-refundable, for even if you end up having a valid reason for not going, we still have to pay for 15 people.

However, NONE of this goes towards Trails and Ales, it will all be applied towards your admission for the tour - you will be responsible for bringing the remaining 50% - $10.00 at the time of the tour (I highly recommend bringing cash to make it easier logistically and time-wise for the group).

We will meet at the parking lot for the cave by 10:15am SHARP! We will coordinate for our reservation with the cave by 10:30 to make sure we have everything in place.

Lantern Tour

"Ready for a rugged cave journey? Join us to relive the thrilling experience of early explorers! On our Lantern Tour, you’ll travel deep into the Manitou Grand Caverns, exploring passageways and formations lit only by the hand-held lanterns you carry! You’ll learn about the eerie history and folklore of Cave of the Winds as you travel through the dimly-lit Grand Concert Hall and Spider’s Den caverns. A Lantern Tour is the perfect way to step back in time – and step into adventure!"

The Lantern Tour is a 1.5 hour trek through rugged caverns and is ideal for more adventurous visitors. Stopping and shuffling is required, and wearing athletic shoes is highly recommended. Due to the physical requirements of the tour, children ages 5 years and younger are not permitted. The Lantern Tour is not recommended for pregnant women or persons who have heart or respiratory problems.

From Denver: 75 miles, approx. 1.25 hours drive time (please calculate this into your carpooling and/ or travel plan)

Cave of the Winds is located at:

100 Cave of the Winds Road
Manitou Springs, CO 80829
Click here for an interactive map

From I-25 in Colorado Springs, take Exit 141. Go west on Highway 24 for six miles. The entrance to Cave of the Winds is on the right. Parking is free! Click here for GPS coordinates.

I am am open to suggestions, as I am not familiar with the area - However, I recommend something on the route back to Denver for safety and logistical reasons (maybe Castle Rock), but will abide by a consensus.

Today was awesome! Great Cave of the Winds Lantern Tour and even better company. Terrific lunch and microbrews with hilarity to spare. It doesn't get any better than that!! : )

Are we set on après hike? Seems a shame to be down south and not take in something local. Thoughts on Pikes Peak or Trinity?

I used to like Phantom Canyon when I lived there in the '90s. I know there are newer places now.

I've already signed up. Is it possible to put a guest on the waiting list in case someone can't make it?
