Let's do a moderate loop hike in nearby Rocky Mountain National Park to view one of the more unusual lakes in the Park. We'll start from the Bear Lake Trailhead in Rocky Mountain National Park. Lake Haiyaha is ringed by enormous boulders, and not run of the mill regular-sized boring rocks. Our descent will take us past Dream and Nymph Lakes back to the trailhead. This trek guarantees no rattlesnake sightings, however, elk raisins may be present.
*Note, 8:30 is carpool time!
Round Trip Length: 6.5 - 7 miles
Elevation Change: ~1000'
For those interested in carpooling from Denver, plan to leave the 88th and Sheridan PNR (west side of Hwy 36, north end of the lot) at 8:30 a.m. If not carpooling from Denver, meet at the Bear Lake Trailhead at 10:00.
Each vehicle will need a park entrance pass.
Bring snacks, water, snowshoes, extra layers, traction devices and hiking poles. Be prepared for all weather conditions, well, except maybe for typhoons and heat waves. Snow with a chance of falling gerbils is always a possibility. Additionally, please bring cash for splitting fuel costs and park entrance fees, bribing park officials, etc.
