Play tennis and have a few drinks afterward, of course drinking is optional.

I am starting this meetup because I was part of the City Park tennis meetup last year, and like many, I was sorry to see it go away. This is the same concept; mixed doubles, if you really want, do singles, you'll just look a little antisocial. This meetup will have the added bonus of after tennis beers, or apres cocktails if that suits you better. They can conveniently be had somewhere on 17th Ave.

I am thinking Thursday nights (so it won't mess with your social calendar). Tennis: 6:30pm to 9pm, then the apres thing.

I don't know if you have to be part of Trails and Ales to do this meetup (who's going to bust you?), but it's a great group that does much more than hike trails and drink beer.

It shouldn't be hard to get as good a group together as was done last year. So let's do it again.

What is the general skill level and format? I am intermediate but haven't played in a few years, probably need a bit of a brush up on some rules and etiquette... so is it friendly or competitive?

And if I join, I am fine with any of the times suggested. I don't have a preference and am fine if we need to rotate players in to get some court time for everyone.

I don't know Dan. I'm worried if we start at 7:00 it won't be enough tennis time. Is it strictly doubles or are there singles players? I think your idea of both times is good. What if there aren't any courts? Do we need to commit to a specific time if there are 2 time slots? Where do you go out afterwards?

The courts were pretty full at 6:30 last time. The topic of a start time was discussed. 2 main options were mentioned: 5:30pm and 7pm, one to beat the rush and the other to hope it's over. My idea is actually both times, if people want to show up early and secure a court(s) that would more than fine with me. I personally like the 7pm time....let's traffic die down and hopefully courts open up. The social time after tennis would still be 9pm or later, so it may not work for the early comers.
    Looking for feedback,
    any comments welcomed.
