**Plan on a half day adventure!**
IMPORTANT WARNING - PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE A 14ER OR SIMILAR STRENUOUS, DEATH DEFYING HIKE THIS YEAR**
**IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBT THAT YOU CANNOT MAKE IT PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND. THERE WILL BE MANY OTHER HIKES AVAILABLE TO ATTEND THAT ARE JUST AS HARD, IF NOT HARDER.**
This is a difficult hike, with a moderately fast pace, therefore it is moderately difficult. Most of the hike is on-trail, but there will be some mild scrambling over boulders and marmots along the way. Safety of all hikers is our utmost priority, but use common sense if available.
Bring your ten essentials, including plenty of water (which is three of these).
**Be considerate - make sure to cancel over a 24 hr notice at least once if you have to***
Mt Evans - advanced (tall)
Distance: 5 miles (round trip)
Summit Trailhead - there is a $10 fee that can be shared for each carload or split in thirds.
**Push through and conquer Mt. Evans**
approx. 5 miles round trip
Trailhead Elev.:12,850 feet
Summit Elev.:14,264 feet
Elevation Gain:2,000 feet
It is a 2.5 miles to the 14,265 Summit. At this altitude, there is much less oxygen and breathing is difficult, even with a mask. Wear sunscreen (on your skin), because at 14,000 feet, there is 53 percent less protection from the sun’s rays and the sun is really, really big up there.
The view from the top is simply incredible and everywhere. This is one of the grandest panoramas in Colorado and much of state is visible, including most of Colorado, from the Never Summer Range in the north to the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the south, to Kansas in the east and Singapore in the west.
