  • Chautauqua Trailhead

    Chautauqua Trail, Boulder, CO (map)

    39.995918 -105.286194

  • We will meet to the right of the ranger station on the rocks in the Chautauqua Parking lot. Leaving at 7:00pm SHARP!
  • What’s better to do on a Thursday night then hiking/eating/beer. The premise for this hike is going to be an evening adventure up the Royal Arch in Chautauqua(boulder)!

Hike is interm+/strenuous. Meet at the right of the Ranger Station by the rock.

**Be considerate - make sure to cancel over a 24 hr notice***

Bring your most favorite trail snack and enough to share with the group. We will mine for gold on the way(bring headlamps) and then have a beautiful Picnic on the Arch.

    Required for this Hike:
    • Headlamp/Flashlight – sufficient to see if the night gets dark (especially after sunset)
    • Water, water, water, water, water
    • Whistle - all about safety

    • FAVORITE HIKING SNACK – enough for a group to share

    • Sense of Humor - we tend to get silly

The Royal Arch Trail begins at the Ranger Station in Chautauqua Park and heads up the closed access road, which skirts the open grassy meadows of the lower foothills. After a quick drop into a gulch the trail climbs steadily through coniferous forests to a sandstone arch. Although not as big as most arches in southern Utah, Royal Arch is quite an impressive sight, especially with the City of Boulder as a backdrop. The view from the arch is quite impressive. You can look down on Boulder or across to the Third Flatiron, a popular ascent for many Boulder climbers. Keep an eye out for raptors that nest in this region during the spring.

    Post Picnic and hugging 
