Folks, We will hike up to and around the Red Mesa loop. Approx. distance-7miles. The is a very beautiful and rewarding hike. One of my favorites.Dress for the weather. If real cold dress in LAYERS and if significant snow Microspikes or Yac Tracs. Bring plenty of food and water. Will add more as weather dictates it.

Overview: Directions: Take I-70 West to C-470 East. Take the Wadsworth Boulevard exit. Turn right off of the exit and then turn right at the first light, Deer Creek Canyon road. Go about 2 miles to a stop sign, turn left and continue past the South Valley park trail head. In less than a mile from the South Valley park trail head, turn left onto Grizzly Drive. This will lead you to the obvious parking lot on your right. Dogs allowed on a leash.

For the Ales: We will be heading to Rox Bar & Grill on the North East corner of C-470 and W Ken Caryl Ave.

I had a good time on the hike today. Yes, for the first time in my life I had to turn around and head back down alone. The hike was easy/moderate, but my lungs could not handle the altitude. I was a safe hiker and told several of the hikers of course. I told my friends in NM that I had to turn back and that the CO hikers were probably saying "that wimpy NM hiker!" LOL!!!!! I'll sign up again when I'm in town. I thought the hike was at a slower pace and easy to do . . . just got my butt kicked by the altitude!

Hi, I'm visiting from NM and hoping to move here so want to check out the area for hiking. Hope everyone is okay with my joining tomorrow. Let me know if there is anything I should know about this location. I'll have my camelbak and hikers. Any special directions for getting there from the DenverTech area is appreciated. Sorry I can't join you guys now. I was looking forward to this hike, but the jerk that broke into my house this morning and stole my work equipment that I worked very hard to purchase just ruined my weekend.

Am considering starting an earlier (9:30) group to lesson the herd size. If interested in shifting your start time, let me know via email and I'll add you on this afternoon.

Joe will be the event host for this hike as I have reinjured my Achilles tendon and may not be able to complete the entire distance. Thanks Joe!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
