Downs park doggie beach day and walk

Wonderful off -leash dog beach with lovely flat walking trails to dry fur and clothes alike. Dog beach is open for animals in the water only people can sit along the beach and play with the dogs. I think its $6 per car to get in during the summer season.  Hit the beach then walk.  If you're late just to down to the beach, and intro yourself to hosts.

This is a very popular spot lots of other dogs playing there too.

I may not be able to go tomorrow. Pepper hasn't been acting like herself, she's been sleeping all afternoon. If she hasn't perked up by tomorrow morning I'll change my rsvp.

Looks like Chris might not make it, I'll bring an assortment of chips and some Italian sausage for the grill.

Hey Kim is there anything else that we can bring? We are heading to the grocery store in a bit.

So far the pledged contributions are: grill, hotdogs, hamburgers (Kim and Stew), 3 bean salad, broccoli salad, paper plates, napkins, plastic silverware, glasses (Rebecca +Dominic), chips(Chris), bottled water, soda(will). If anyone would like to bring fruit/veggie platters, corn on the cob, watermelon or any other meats for the grill please feel free. Otherwise it looks like a good turn out with everyone pitching in a bit. See you all tomorrow!

Other than physically in the water, how much off-leash play space is there? I've got to active bird dogs that are super obedient but like to run a good it. BTW...happy to bring a pitcher of adult beverage as my contribution :)
    Thanks!

first there is only the beach area for off the leash play but plenty of easy going trails for drying off walk on the leash. second as it is a state park they do not allow alcohol in the park

Would love to go but it's just too far away for us. Do you have meetups closer to Millsboro, DE?

Anything specific needed for the potluck? I can bring a grill as well. If nothing specific is needed I was thinking a few bags of chips and/or some drinks

  • Kimberly

So a few of the dog parents and myself discussed making this event a potluck lunch picnic after walk and beach time. Stewart and I will bring hotdogs, hamburgers and a small grill. If you would like to contribute to the potluck or have any dietary restrictions that we need to be aware of please comment below. Thanks everyone, see you soon
