Snowshoeing at Paradise!

Estimated time-frame for today: 8AM-4:30PM {later if dining out}

Current forecast: 40% chance of snow. High of 33.

{We will either snowshoe the Nisqually Vista Loop, Paradise Valley Rd or Alta Vista/Glacier Vista}

RT Mileage: 3-5 (+/-) Strain Level: Easy (Paradise Valley)|Moderate (Nisqually Vista #2705)|Moderate+ (Alta Vista #270S)|Moderate+ (Glacier Vista)

Elevation Gain: 200' (Nisqually Vista)|550' (Paradise Valley)|1,000' (Glacier Vista) Highest Point: 5,400 (both Nisqually Vista & Paradise Valley)|6,340' (Glacier Vista)

{Alta Vista: 550' (Elevation Gain)|5,971' (Highest Elevation)}

+When avalanche danger is high (the rangers will tell you so) follow the higher route above Alta Vista, don't snowshoe beneath Alta Vista (the south slope) as that is prone to avalanche. The views along this route are outstanding, especially when skies are blue with views of the Tatoosh peaks, Mount Adams and Mount Saint Helens to the south and behind you, Mount Rainier of course, almost close enough to touch.

Pass Required? YES-National Parks/Federal Lands Pass

Need to rent snowshoes? You can pick up a pair with poles at the Whittaker Mountaineering Store in Ashford..then drop them off on the way home! (MSR showshoes w/ poles: $14)

{There are also snowshoe rentals at the General Store in Longmire}

    Even though the road to Paradise never opened, we enjoyed a wonderful jaunt up the Wonderland Trail and up to Rampart Ridge. The sun was out MOST of the day and following our snowshoe outing, we had a GREAT time at the Pour House in Eatonville! Tom: thank you so much for driving!!! 5.5 miles round-trip today! I'll look up the elevation gain :-)

    I'd like to be able to do this meetup, I just acquired showshoes. My schedule is really full for the next 2 weeks.
    I hope someone who likes snowshoeing and lives around the downtown area would contact me about showshoeing with this meetup or perhaps Mt. Rainier & Beyond.
    I'm looking forward to my first showshoe hike with my new showshoes.

    This will probably be the LAST snowshoe I lead this year. Any member of Trailside is welcome to step up to the plate and lead one or make a suggestion for more snowshoe adventures!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
