Westberg Trail day hike

The Westberg trail is a good springtime hike. It's located near Ellensburg, so it should be snow-free (cross your fingers), and it has a fair number of wildflowers at this time of year.

This will be a good conditioning hike (in other words, it's moderately difficult). It's short (4 miles roundtrip), but it has some good elevation gain (1710 feet) so that you get a decent workout.

Parking: No pass required

I finished my chores early at Alpental, so I thought that I'd scout the trail (it's only an hour away from Snoqualmie Pass).
First of all, the sun was shining on the east side of the mountains! I'm fairly sure that we can count on that next week when we go.
I found out that you don't need a Discover Pass or anything else to park at the trailhead. That was a pleasant surprise.
You can get to the trailhead with just an ordinary car. The road is even paved! :)
I didn't go on the trail itself, but I could see that it climbs up to a ridge overlooking the Kittitas Valley. I haven't hiked this trail, but I have gone four-wheeling in the vicinity, so I know that the view will be spectacular.
    I can hardly wait!
