Whether you went on this trip or not' take a look at these professionally takenhotos of the raft trip. See what it looked like as we went as we went over a 10 foot waterfall. Check out how 3 of us sat on the bow of the raft, legs sticking out in mind air as we plunged through class IV rapids with waves rolling right overtop the raft submerging everyone in it with water. This is the picture of ADVENTURE! This was FUN! 33 adventurers went and we all had a blast. Can't wait for the next one, rafting the Tieton River in September when they release the water in Rimrock Lake behind the dam creating class IV rapids. Adventurers, rapid river riders, sign up!:-)
Mike, I think you should place us going over the waterfall on the home page of Trailside. Hike photos and everything else had their turn, now it's our turn.

oops, just noticed that we would get done too late to make my appt in Yakima. We will have to go in the morning. If this one fills up, I can host one for the morning if there is a waiting list.

White Salmon rocks!!! Absolutely beautiful day to enjoy the forest and cool, refreshing rapids, especially going over Husum Falls. The outfitter, Wildwater River Guides, was very organized and easy to work with. Many thanks to Justene and our rafting guide Jonathan for making our time on the river both fun and funny. And of course, many thanks to the folks in my raft -- Mercy, Jim, Amina, Patrick, and of course our event organizer David -- for being awesome and supportive and able to see the humor in everything, both on the river and afterwards at our late lunch at Everybody's Brewing in White Salmon. Hope to see you all at the Tieton in September! :-)

Hi everybody -- Please note that the directions to Northwestern Lake Park on this Meetup page were incorrect; they were the directions to the Tieton River rafting trip instead. I've corrected the directions for the correct location, so that they're now consistent with the Wildwater River Guides website and with the e-mail that you should've gotten from the outfitter when making your reservation with them. If you get lost, please feel free to call my cell (203)[masked] -- yes, CT area code...

    July 26, 2013

    • Amy

Thanks for replying back Neil . Appreciate it

my friend, Kate might need a ride down. She can ride back with us if necessary. Anyone have room for 1 more Saturday morning?

    July 24, 2013

    • Mary G

I still have room for 2 more.

      July 24, 2013

  • David T.

Everyone Attention: Due to the unanticipated number of people signing up for this event and the logistics involved in organizing car pools and passengers as well as unanticipated slow downs and stops, I moved the Meetup time back 15 minutes. If that poses a problem for anyone let me know.

    July 24, 2013

  • David T.

Amina, Eileen, do either of you have a problem with changing the raft time from 1:30 p.m. to 09:00 a.m.? It would mean changing the meetup time to 4:00 a.m. and departing the P&R at 4:15. I know this is early, but we would also get back earlier. It would be to everyone advantage and cheaper if we merged the groups..

    June 28, 2013

    • Amy

  • Penny

    July 13, 2013

  • David T.

    July 5, 2013

  • David T.

Thanks Penny. For those interested, please post interest. This is the venue to bring people together who have like interests.

If anyone wants to spend the weekend, here are some rates from the RV Park I've been talking to. They have 1 deluxe RV (with shower) that sleeps 4 with room for more on the floor. This could be a reasonable option if several people split the expenses. This is for a family, so they might charge a bit more by a bunch of people splitting it. There are lakes, rivers, Mt Adams and hiking trails in the area so Friday/Saturday night stay could be fun. For more info, you can email Kerri at [masked]

The RV is $85.00/night based on a 1 family unit which includes the site also. A separate RV site (if someone brings their own tent trailer or RV) varies between $26.00 - $30.00/night depending on the site type and an addition of a tent is $20.00/night. We do have a 2 night minimum therefore you are looking at these rates times 2 plus a 7% tax.

Am thinking of staying at an RV park - they have 1 tent pad left. She is getting pricing for me. They also have a limited number of Rv spots left. All the cabins close by are full. Here's some other camping options:

    WA side
35 min NW of White Salmon Moss creek campground
30 min up the road East from White Salmon, WA is the Columbia Hills State Park. Windy & Along the hwy
free dispursed camping in Forest. OR side
TUCKER PARK, first come first serve basis with no reservations 5 mi. South of Hood River on Tucker Rd.
Routson Campground Fee Camping is on a FCFS, no res. 7 mi. South of Hood River
Viento state park is on the OR side. About 6 miles West of Hood River. First come first serve.
Memaloose state park is about 10 miles east from Hood River on I-84.
KOA 30 min west from Hood river on I-84

am plus 7 guests, but it only let me add 2

    July 1, 2013

    • David T.

Try calling and have Justene add the rest. I'm glad we can join groups.

      July 1, 2013

  • David T.

Should we join Penny"s group? It will change our meetup time from 08:45 to 03:45. Her group starts at 09:00, ours at 1:30. Instead of getting back about 10:00, we would get back around 6:00 unless we stop to eat.

    June 29, 2013

  • David T.

Penny, is your trip on the same day? If so, what time are you planning on leaving in the morning? Seeing if we all can get a bigger discount is an excellent idea whether we are together or apart.

    June 27, 2013

    • Penny

David, can you contact Justine at Wildwater? She has your address wrong.

      June 28, 2013

    • David T.

Penny, I talked to Justene today and gave her the right address.

      June 28, 2013

  • Penny

We have 2 adults in our group that don't wish to do the waterfall. They have the option of dropping you off at the top of the falls so you can walk down the trail and pick you up at the bottom. You can also do this if you have kids between 10 and 12.

    June 28, 2013

  • Penny

I already have a group of 8 doing the 9am raft trip there. We have room for 4 more in our rafts if anyone would like to go earlier. I could also check with Justine at Wildwater and see if they will count our group with yours for a bigger discount for everyone if you would like.

    June 27, 2013

  • Eilene

We plan to drive and will be able to take 2 others in our car.
