I would like to thank everyone who attended the first "Silicon Valley [formerly Bay Area] Transhumanist Association Meetup Group" yesterday. I had a great time meeting new like-minded people, and seeing old friends again!
I'd also like to thank Dr. Ralph Merkle for being our first speaker, and for sharing this thoughts on cryonics in general and Alcor in particular. I hope he will be able to attend future meetings and share his thoughts in other areas (such as nanotechnology) with us.
Because December is a difficult scheduling month for many people, we've decided to have our next meeting on Wed., Jan. 16th. Same time, same place. If anyone knows of a conflicting conference or meeting for that date, please bring it to my attention as soon as possible so we might make other arrangements.
The World Transhumanist Association's website (www.transhumanism.org) is in desparate need of an overhaul. We have some ideas for the redesign, but are looking for some interested parties who could help us implement such without destroying our budget. We have a pretty good webmaster who can fuss and fix the Expression Engine and databases we work with, but who has no design skills. Please contact me by email if you or someone you know could help us out!
Thanks again. I'm looking forward to seeing you again at our next meeting, as well as meeting more new members.
