Nashville Citizens Climate Lobby Monthly Meeting

{For some background on the relevance of Citizens Climate Lobby to Transition, please click here}

The guest speaker on our national conference call this month is Dr. Wendy Ring, a member of Physicians for Social Responsibility, who will discuss the health impacts of climate change.

The Nashville monthly meeting will take place before the conference call. Meeting starts at 10:45. National call starts at Noon. Bring a brown bag lunch if you want. We'll have snacks and coffee.

About our guest speaker:

Dr. Ring recently rode her bike across the US to raise awareness about the need for action on climate change. In July, she posted this note from Oregon:

"This bike tour is my action in response to recent findings by climate communication studies that show that education about health consequences is one of the most effective ways to get people to care about climate change.  Doctors have an important role to play in our current atmosphere of distrust of science.  Patients still trust us, so we are in an ideal position to be "science interpreters" for our communities."

ABOUT CITIZENS CLIMATE LOBBY  -- CCL  is a national nonprofit whose mission is to create the political will for a sustainable climate. We are working toward introducing -- and passing! -- national carbon fee and dividend legislation in 2013. Fee and dividend -- a carbon tax with revenue returned to consumers -- will put the brakes on global warming.
If you'd like to listen to their regular monthly introductory call that explains the group and how it works, register for the call on their web site below. The calls are every Wednesday evening at 7 pm CST.  The toll-free dial-in number is[masked] and the Pass code is[masked]#. Hope you'll do this even if you can't come to our meeting!

    When said that it might be a little late, what are you suggesting
    because meeting in the morning is a little bit difficult for most people. Is it possible to have telephone conference with someone wh can bring us up to date on what has been done and where are we?

      I said I would be a little late, going from one event to another - not the meeting! The meetings will run as scheduled.

    The Citizens Climate Lobby meeting will not start late. At 10:45, we'll get coffee or tea and go to work for an hour. One thing we'll do in that hour is practice the laser talk for November. This will come in handy at Thanksgiving dinners! Then at noon we'll listen to the international conference call with Dr. Ring. Look forward to meeting you, Zacheus.
