The Transition Initiative Model helps communities to equip themselves for the dual challenges of climate change and peak oil. The Transition Network lists 126 cities, towns and villages globally that have a Transition Towns initiative in progress. Only eight U.S. cities and towns are on that list. Portland, Maine is one of them.

The movement operates with the assumption that if we wait for government to cope with energy and climate change, it will be too little, too late. If we act as individuals, it will simply be too little. If we act as communities, it might just be enough, just in time.

On Friday January 9th from 7-9 PM there will be a presentation on Transition Towns at the Windham Public Library by Alastair and Pat Proulx-Lough. If the presentation is cancelled due to inclement weather, then it will be rescheduled. Space is limited to 40 people.

E-mail Mike Mack at [masked] for details.

    •  The meetup went very well. Both the presentation and experiential exercise were well received; and discussion was lively throughout. A tip of the ole chapeau goes to Mike Mack for organizing the event. Thanks Mike!
