Yes, I think it is essential to be prepared. I'm interested in permaculture, growing more food, emergency prep, energy conservation, "Passive Haus" building, etc.
I'm interested in nearly any areas of resilience and/or response to an uncertain future. I think we have to "power down". I like to grow food, can food, insulate our house, collect rainwater, reduce water use, reduce gas and electricity use, reduce gasoline use.
Building community on the West side of the river, our group has had interesting programs on rainwater harvesting, emergency preparation, tool sharpening, Transition principles, Occupy Portland, techniques on how to help the body heal itself, Resilience Circles, Patient-Physician coops, etc.
