Have you made a transmedia project before?

We are trying to bleed in transnarrative elements to our work at Labs but I've been involved in one before we'd heard of the term - a game/mystery across the net and our university campus, the winners of which ended their journey by being sealed in a bunker. Ahh, drama.

What would you most like to get out of being in Transmedia London?

I am most concerned with finding new ways to make stories work, and of using story theory (as opposed to say, game theory - there are people better qualified than me to talk about that) to make "long projects" of any sort, better. Can you make people feel okay with, say, a local roadwork project by building a narrative around it? If you just put a sign up saying "hunting for treasure, sorry for the inconvenience," does that make it better? I want to know. Partly for my own stuff, but mostly because I encounter so many things than can be made better in some way. I want to meet people who've been through that journeys and find out what they experienced, and where they want to go next.

What do you think you could best contribute to Transmedia London?

Perspectives probably - of a strategist in a big huge agency trying to sell to big huge clients, but mostly as an ex-dramaturge and a writer. And a massive collaborator. I will get involved in anything :)

Well hello there, my name's James. I'm a planner by day at BBH Labs, and a writer by night - short stories, audio stories, a novel, and as a standup, and a speaker. I love it all, and I love it when several things seem to meet. I always pick red.
