Read "The Best American Short Stories 2013"

It was suggested for our March read that we try a collection of short stories with two intentions in mind: First, what a great opportunity to "try-on" some new authors without having to commit to an entire novel. Second, if you are unable to read all the stories, just read a couple and come prepared to share what you liked about them with us. Sounds easy enough, right? And hopefully there is something within these pages for everyone to enjoy!

Hi everyone! Wish I could have joined last Tuesday! I am home from the hospital (four day stay! Rats) and I am feeling better. I really enjoyed the story called Bravery. What I took away from it is, the woman (oh, don't have my copy with me) had a certain outlook on life and she thought her views were "right". But life isn't always the way we think. I think the husband was not only a kind man, but multifaceted. Even if he wasn't quite aware of it. Or maybe he was and he showed it in the end of the story?

Anyway, I enjoyed it (and many other stories). Life is like that- our perspective isn't always true. Thanks for this selection and I hope I can join in next time. :)

I don't see any men in the group. If this is a women's group I do apologize. Please advise if I have joined the wrong group. Otherwise I look forward to meeting you all.

Steve, we have two men in the group who are "regulars" and try to get to most of the meetups we hold. I do not believe in women's book clubs and we are grateful for all of the men who join this group!
