Adpot A Hwy Clean up (near Creation Museum)

  • May 4, 2013 · 10:00 AM

We will be cleaning up the highway right off the Petersburg exit (275)
No one under the age if 13 is allowed or costumes. You will be able to park on the shoulder off the exit. I recommend carpooling if at all possible. You will need to bring your own gloves. Garbage bags will be provided.  We will have a safety meeting at our Wednesday meeting and answer any questions. We will do a quick review on location at 10am.

There will be lots of pictures taken. A lot of major blogs, magazines... will be writing about this event so look your best.

I'm also looking for suggestions for lunch afterwards or perhaps a picnic. . I will list more details as I get them.

This was a great project. All the equipment we needed was provided by the department of transportation including bags, vests and grabbers. The weather was perfect for cleanup day.
This was a worthwhile project, not all that physically hard and a good way to get to know other people in the group. The pizza after, at Edwaudos in Hebron was a nice treat too. Thank you for organizing this event.

Thanks for organizing this. Events such as this one give us a chance to build our community, benefit our environment and have a good time.

I may be dull, but I really don't see why this is an event, I am assuming it is a tongue-in-cheek kind of thing. but it seems to me that cleaning up for them is missing the mark..Im not quite sure what kind of message is being sent. TRUST ME..I am all for doing anything possible to eradicate this disastrous de-humanizing philosophy called religion. I have been a card carrying atheist since birth, and will be one until my end but I just don't get this one,,,PLease explain it to me so I can better understand. In reality, we have been cleaning up after religion all this time...seems a shame to have to do it on the side of their highway.
Despite my lack of understanding, I wish all of you that attend the best of luck..have a great time, and be safe. Remember, there is no afterlife so don't end YOURS next to the Creation

It helps the environment which is a good thing to do. I think the Adopt A Hwy is a great idea for a lot of organizations. We should be doing this no matter what. We just got a bonus with the location because more people will be aware of it & come out to help.

I agree with Jim completely. This is about community service, not cleaning up after the creationists. It isn't even their space. The irony that we are doing it along the route that leads to their property just makes it more fun. With that said, this might not be everyone's cup of tea. If it isn't, how about supporting one of the other activities or suggesting one of your own?

Sorry, won't be able to make it in time.

I drove by the signs earlier. They look great, but they put the southbound sign north of the 275 ramps. So nobody coming in from the interstate will see them. Anyway, I'll see you guys at the clean-up.

Part of me is concerned that the state of Kentucky placed the southbound sign that way intentionally due to the Creation "museum"....

They placed it at the beginning and end of the clean up zone.

I would make the cleanup, but I have a college graduation with family out of town to attend. I second what Carl said about the cleanup.

I REALLY wanted to make this event, but it appears that I won't be able to.

It's OK buddy. Your kids need you more than a highway clean up does.

I drove by one of these signs last night and I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised to see it. I'll try and come out next Saturday. Keep up the good work regardless.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
