Kayak scenic north end of Caesars Creek 10/6/13

  • This location is shown only to members

  • Perfect fall day for kayaking. North side of lake away from boats. We'll kayak the stumps and feeder stream in the N.E. cove, then upstream to 1 or 2 or the feeder streams. Bring usual kayaking necessities. Life jackets must be won at all times. Lots of migrating birds this time of year.

North side of lake is most scenic. If you have not kayaked this section of Caesars Creek, you will enjoy it. We will not be on the lake itself. Find your way to RT 42 Waynesville, then east on Roxanne-New Burlington Rd, south on Compton, then straight on Young Rd to boat ramp.

Pls note, follow the boat ramp sign from Compton Rd straignt to 10950 Young Rd. The boat ramp is straight on Young Rd (do not turn right on Compton Rd when you near the lake).

Folks, we all know the weatherman has a secure job with his 50/50 forecasts. Lets wait till sun morn to make plans. A little rain saves me from taking a shower in the morning

If any one is liking for something other than still lake water, Tri- State is doing the Little Miami out of Loveland next Saturday the 12th. Everyone is welcome. Check the posting on our site for details.

Mark: what's the plan if it rains? Forecast is for 70% rain and possible storms all day.

About how long are you planning to be out on the water, but without rushing anyone? I'm hoping to fit the paddle into a busy day.

This wil be a 2 part event. The north feeder streams should be 2-2 1/2 hours. For those that want more, another 1 hour paddle into another cove feeder if the water level is high enough.

We are a new-to-paddling family with small, "play boats". Would a 9' and 10' SOTs be appropriate for this trip?

If you're strong paddlers, you should be fine. Most folks will be bringing 10' to 12' boats.

    Is the map above correct?

Pretty accurate. It doesn't accurately show Compton Rd turning right to the lake, but Young Rd does turn right to the boat ramp. The boat ramp is on Young Rd, not Compton. There are signs to the boat ramp.

I paddled this section last year - its a great part of the lake. Can't wait to do it again.
