Little Miami at Loveland Canoe/kayak

This could be the last great weekend we might have in October, so join us.

This will be a 5 mile trip. We will depart the Loveland Rental by 10AM so be on time. Shuttle charge for those who own their own Kayak, is $10 (if enough of show up, we might get that charge lowered some). This will be a great time to try Kayaking if you haven't done it before. You can rent a Kayak, Life preserver, paddle and shuttle service for only $22.

What to Bring: Not knowing what the weather will be on October 12th, load you car with cloths for any kind of weather so you can decide what to bring at the last minute.

Restrooms: Restrooms at the Loveland Kayak and Canoe rental

River Forecast:Will be posted as info is available.

Experience: Suitable for all levels and beginners

Food: This trip will take about 2 hrs--more or less. Bring something to drink and a snack if you like. After the trip, we can leave our vehicles in their lot and walk to any number of eateries nearby.

Liability Waiver: As always, by joining in this event you are acknowledging that you have read and agree to abide by the Tri-State Kayakers Liability Waiver.  You can find this waiver in the Files section of the Tri-State Kayakers web site.

Greg, thanks for organizing this event. I really enjoyed myself! Everything was perfect...the weather, the water, and the people were all so friendly. I'm looking forward to spending more time with this group. :)

This stretch of river is perfect for new kayakers. Its the same stretch that Loveland Canoe runs its livery over. There are a few rapids but nothing big. 2 keys to paddling through moving water. First, don't stop paddling - you need your kayak to be moving faster than the water. 2nd - look for the downriver "V" in the flow as this is caused by water moving between rocks either hidden or visible. Avoid the rocks and aim down the center.

If you come out of your kayak, don't try to stand in the rapids. Lay on your back with your feet up and pointed down river. Once you clear the rapids we will reunite you with your kayak and paddle.

Its a great trip - lots of fun. Not sure what the river level and flow rate is but probably will be on the low side due to lack of recent rain.

I was new to kayaking, too. I had a blast on the first trip and felt very comfortable with the group. They are very knowledgable, not to mention a great group to just hang with:)

We're new - started in August. Use "play boats" on still water, but enjoy it very much!

Ok.... hubby Dan and I are planning on attending. We were trying to get our son and friend to join us, but they will have to be on their own. I'm not holding out any longer for a reply! Looking forward to meeting some new folks who enjoy paddling. We usually go to Winton Woods. This will be our first time on MOVING water with kayaks.

Yes we do, but we don't always know. Two weeks ago I was with two totally new newbies on east fork lake I was totally new summer before last. Loveland Rental is going to have about 50 high schools kids this Saturday and I'll be many are newbies. What concerns do you have?

The trip description says its the 5 miles trip so the put in would be the Carl Rahe access point just beneath the viaduct on Route 22 & 3.

South Lebanon, but I don't know the exact point. Suggest you call Loveland Canoe and Kayak Rental and ask the owner, Mark.

For those of you that have already signed up, the transport fee as been reduced to $10 instead of the $12 previously stated. For those of you waiting to the last minute, I hope this helps you decide.

This weekend is supposed to be Sunny and 74 degrees--remember, that's a 'shade' temp.

Since we had heavy rain Sunday and couldn't do the Caesars Creek, maybe some of you can join us on the river.

We were at this place Saturday, checking out some of their old fleet and the Jackson kayaks that were for sale. We would love to join the group for this trip!

All the boats we have, fit inside our van but if we decide to buy an old 11.4 from their fleet, can someone from this group help us tie it on top of our van? We were told the livery could not do that, I suppose for liability? We have factory rack and rails and some tie down straps....and a pool noodle. Would that be enough for us to at least get it home... for now? We can't really make the investment in too much equipment like racks yet. We've been getting by with shoving the boats in the van. The big blue boats they have WON'T make the cut inside!

Just bring enough rope to be able to tie both the front and back and I'm sure we all can help you secure it/them.

Joy: Glad you are able to join in the fun. We'll all help as much as we can.

Oh, I am so bummed! I would have loved to have gone on this trip with the group and finally gotten to meet some if you. Unfortunately, I have to be at an appointment from 11-12 so I have a reservation for the 1:00 10 mile trip that day. So sorry I will miss you guys.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
