Paddle Williamstown Lake! A day for ONLY paddlers and no powerboats!

Enjoy Northern Kentucky’s largest lake…safely!  Explore nearly 350 acres of calm, flat water paddling on Williamstown Lake as you pass by over 450 waterline properties that border the nearly 32 miles of shoreline.  And during the hours of Paddle Williamstown, all powerboat traffic on Williamstown Lake will be restricted.  Which means you can enjoy the beautiful scenery without having to worry about wake boarders, water skiers, tubers or jet skiers.  You’ll share the lake only with fellow kayakers and canoers. PRE-registration for only paddling at this event is $10.00 per boat ($15.00 if you wait until the day of the event) and all proceeds go to support St. Elizabeth -- Grant County Cancer Care unit.  If you wish to participate in some of the other fun events listed below, there can be additional fees.  For those that don't have kayaks/canoes, rentals are available by reservation only (see details below).

Pre-Registration NOW!

Leisure Float Trip  – You’ve got six hours and nothing but still, flat water in front of you!  No running water and no current means you can go where you want, when you want.  Take your time and enjoy the many beautiful boathouses and docks that dot the shoreline, or take in Mother Nature’s beauty shortly after sunrise and maybe spot a Blue Heron in the process.  You might want to pack a camera!

Mayor’s Paddle  – Open to everyone who registers, it’s brunch on the water!  While you take a relaxing paddle around the lake, enjoy the hospitality of several Williamstown Lake homeowners and get fed in the process.  You never have to leave the water!

Poker Run  – The Paddle Williamstown Poker Run is a fun way to test your luck as you paddle around Williamstown Lake.  To participate in the Poker Run, you must first be registered for either the leisure float trip or four mile race, and then pay an  additional $10.00 for each hand you want to play.  While the run begins at 8:00am and stops will remain open until 12:00 noon, you may do the stops in any order, at your own pace.  You must return your Paddle Williamstown Poker Run Scorecard with all five stamps along with your cards between 11:30 am – 12:30 pm to the Paddle Williamstown registration booth at the Williamstown Marina.

Participants must go to all  five stops on the poker run course.  At each stop, hand the official Paddle Williamstown Poker Run Volunteer your score card and draw a card from the poker run bag.  Your score card will be marked with an official Paddle Williamstown stamp in one of the card boxes on your score sheet.   All cards  must be stamped at each stop to ensure that you have completed the course. Once the card is marked, you are ready to paddle on to the next stop.

Four-Mile “Marina-to-Harbor” Races!   Feeling just a little more competitive?  Then participate in one of our friendly races!  Open to a variety of classes of both kayaks and canoes, the race course will start at Williamstown Marina and take competitors from one end of the lake to the other, finishing four miles later on the western portion in front of Oak Harbor Resorts.  Make the return trip to the marina at your own pace and still have plenty of time to participate in the Mayor’s Paddle and/or Poker Run.

200-Meter Canoe Sprint Races!  Like your racing fast and furious?  Then our sprint races are just for you.  Open to recreational/touring canoes 14’-17’ in length, our matches will feature men’s, women’s, mixed, and youth divisions.  Racing may be head-to-head or against the clock!

Canoe Relay Races!   Just to have a little fun (and maybe a few laughs) we’ll be doing some 2x2 relay races!  Get together four people and two canoes and you’ve got yourself a team!  Don’t have enough for a full team?  Then make some new friends and recruit a couple of your fellow paddlers earlier in the day.  After all, it’s just for fun!  No special race registration required for this one.

Kayaks and canoes rentals available!   Don’t have one of your own?  Paddle Williamstown has made arrangements through Thaxton’s Canoe Livery and Canoe Kentucky to have a limited number of kayaks and canoes available to rent.  These will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis with advanced registration only.*  (No on-site rentals will be available the day of event.)
    * Pre-registration required for kayak and canoe rentals; Pre-Register Online NOW!    .

No shuttle fees!  No parking fees!  No launch fees!   Even on those so-called “free” paddles, you may end up getting nickel-and-dimed from these hidden costs.  With your Paddle Williamstown registration, there will be no unseen fees!  It’s free parking and launching!

Support a cause in the process of paddling!   Proceeds from the registration go to support the St. Elizabeth – Grant County Cancer Care.

It was a great opportunity to see and enjoy the lake with friends. The brunch stops along the way were also nice. Only suggestion for next year would be to have some bathroom stops along the way. I was fortunate to have that thanks to Kelly and her cousin, but most did not.

It was absolutely perfect! The weather couldn't have been better and the lake was beautiful! How nice it was of the home owners to give us food treats along the way! It was a well-organized event and we had a terrific time! Too bad we didn't get to meet any from our group, but we hope to another time. Thanks to all who organized this!

Thanks to everyone who attended our first Paddle Williamstown. Just looking at rough figures, it looks like we may have had nearly 150 people out on the lake paddling Saturday! Thanks to Kelly for helping promote it, and for those TSK'ers who participated! Nice to see meet some new ones, and see some familiar faces too.

Fantastic time exploring the lake today with my paddling peeps. We left the dock at 7:30am and only met one new face from TSK. Had a great time yakkin' with you John! Glad W-town is making this an annual event --- it was a ton of fun! :)

Sunny and 85, with a very bearable 64% humidity is what they're calling for on Satuday. Should be an absolute gorgeous day on the lake! Thanks to everyone who pre-registered. We've got over 100 paddlers coming to this event. Should be a great site/experience. If you didn't pre-register, you can still do so the day of the event. For driving directions, go to www.wtownky.org See everybody on the water!

Wednesday is the final day to pre-register for just $10. If you miss it, it's still just $15 the day-of. Looks like we're going to have beautiful weather to go with a great turnout! (We're on the verge of having 100 paddlers signed up!) See you on the water!

Hi folks -- yes, I plan on being at the boat ramp at 7am. If you wish to meet up with a group, you should plan on that meeting time. Otherwise, you can paddle anytime you wish between 7am-1pm. Don't forget that it's cheaper to PRE-register and that ends Wednesday 8/24! :)

I see "come any time at your leisure," but is there a group going at a certain time? It would be nice as I'm new to the group and don't relish the thought of driving all that way only to have ask everyone I see, "Are you a TSKer?" That would get old real fast.

Also, you can find turn-by-turn directions on our website www.wtownky.org And please be aware of any GPS or Mapquest directions that have you using exit 154 off of I-75...there is a bridge out over the railroad tracks, and the detour will take you right back out to the interstate and to exit 156 instead.

LOL Penny! Yes, it is early...but the permit from Fish & Wildlife for the restricted access (for powerboats) says from 7am to 1pm...but as Kelly says, you're welcome at any time in between.
