BIKE RIDE-Duke Farms, Hillsborough NJ

  • No location was chosen

  • EVENT LEADER - JEAN FLETCHER
  • Duke Farms is a habitat for many native plants and animals. Ride the property for approximately 10 miles on paved and fine gravel roads and see the structures of the magnificent historic estate. Lots of stops. Please bring your own bike as rentals are not available until April 15.  Ok for all but the most fragile road bikes. HELMETS REQUIRED. Bring water and lunch. Rain cancels. Please RSVP for this event and check this meet up site on the morning of April 11 for any last minute changes/cancellations.  Please arrive 15 minutes early as we leave promptly at 10 am. For more information about Duke Farms go to www.dukefarms.org

     DIRECTIONS:
Travel south on Rt. 206 from the Somerville Circle. Note the light for Dukes Parkway East-pass through this light. Dukes Parkway West is the next light-turn right. Follow signs to The Visitor Center. Meet at visitor center parking lot closest to the center.

I rode at Duke Farms on Saturday. The park was quite wet, though I anticipate it will be drier by Friday. Bikes with wide tires would be best; the grit/grass trails are spongy. We will not ride the meadow behind the Visitor Center. In the main area, if necessary, we will stay on the paved roads and loop around in order to arrive at everything we want to see.

No bike rentals until the 18th – probably due to the wetness. Also there is a new system. The price is $10.00 for 2 hours. Pay by credit card. Show picture ID.

Yes, a lock is a good idea.

Do I need to bring a bike lock?

Whereas Duke Farms is big enough to ride a bike to see all the attractions, it is not so large or complicated that it would be difficult for you to take an early out at any time.

Thanks for letting me know. I said yes to the free ticket, but if I don't show up to the show, I'll never get another one. That would be bad. I'll keep an eye on my watch.

How long will this take? 2 hours or what? I just got an offer of a free Broadway ticket that evening and I want to make sure I will get home in time to head to NYC.

I was at the dukes farm yesterday, the customer service told me that the bike rental only begins on April 15. You may want to call them to find out
