Movie Day: The Growing Edge

Join us for the film "The Growing Edge: Exploring Real Solutions to our Grave Ecological Crisis" (A documentary by Donna Read & Starhawk). Read film description below.

Not only has Vancity Credit Union sponsored the permaculture project "Down to Earth: Permaculture" and our workshop on Nov.17th, they have also gave us permission to use one of their very modern and comfortable meeting spaces which also has a big flat screen where we can display movies!

"This new film by the team that made Goddess Remembered and Burning Times is an antidote to environmental despair. View inspiring projects and success stories of regenerative design. Visit permaculture's cofounder David Holmgren, track cougar with naturalist Jon Young, create an inner-city food garden with Hunters Point Family, transform an intersection into a plaza with City Repair and join mycologist Paul Stamets as he cleans up an oil spill with mushrooms. Featuring Penny Livingston-Starkm James Stark, Mark Lakeman, Elaine Ingham, Maddy Harland, Connie Van Dyke and more."

In order to help fund this meetup and its related projects, donations are welcome. So far costs accrued are 36$ for the payment fees of the group which is at discount price for the first 6 months.

Great movie, great discussion! Things that we talked about that people may be interested in: <http://www.bulletproofexec.com/>;, <http://www.urbanherbschool.ca/>;, <http://www.ce40.ca/cgi-bin/waa1gate.exe?WAA_PACKAGE=iCou4&WAA_FORM=ShoCou&x_WEB=HS#Cou010>;. Anyone remember anything else?

We also talked about harvesting nettles together in the spring, and about learning how to make saurkraut.

It's called "Farm Fresh Reference Guide", website: www.bcfarmfresh.com, and it's put out by the Fraser Valley Farm Direct marketing Association.

Thanks for the heads up Travis. I might decide to show the film at a later date if there is enough interest in another screening.
