Join our monthly meetup at SAS. If you would like to make a presentation please contact Ed, Ross, and Luke.

May's presenter is Dean Peters.

In May's session, we'll walk through the creation and compile of a native Android App using PhoneGap. During this presentation, some of the technologies discussed and/or demonstrated will include Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) vs. jSON-P for AJAX, responsive design leveraging HTML5 and CSS3, the Yahoo! Query Language. Tools used will include Eclipse Classic, the Android SDK, PhoneGap/Cordova, and the AppLaud PhoneGap Eclipse PlugIn.

Dean Peters is currently the Support Development Team Lead at McClatchy Interactive, where he manages team of front-end developers supporting the McClatchy Company’s content management system and tools for 70 online newspapers across 29 markets -- including the Miami Herald, the Charlotte Observer, the Lexington Herald-Leader, and the Raleigh News & Observer.

Currently Dean is leading an effort to provide mobile landing pages for users visiting McClatchy's news sites from popular news aggregator apps such as FlipBoard, Pulse and Google Currents.

Non-SAS employees: Please RSVP on the meetup site by 9am on the day of the meetup. Guests are welcome. If you can't make it, un-RSVP so somebody else can use your slot. Check in at the front gate when you arrive and follow the map directions to building S.

SAS employees: You do not need to RSVP - just show up. Let Ross Hannah and I know if you can help with hosting or cleaning up.

Smoking is not allowed in the building, but we do have free WiFi available under the SSID "guest". Feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks or use the first floor break room (near the bathrooms on the left as you come in - meeting rooms are to the right).
