Soktoberfest: Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 26th when the 2nd Annual RailHawks Homebrew Soktoberfest returns to WakeMed Soccer Park before the RailHawks take on the Atlanta Silverbacks.  Triangle Homebrewers will be showing off their best brewfrom 5:00 – 7:00pm. Hey TSF - THAT'S YOU! So, brewers get to show of their skills again this year!  Be sure to email the front office and let them know you are on board with this one.

We will, of course, have a GREAT Soktoberfest, but we still need you to help us cheer, chant and sing our RailHawks to victory of the dastardly Atlanta Silverbacks.

Hey Everyone! Very glad that my little warm drink fit the bill!
Since several people asked, here's the recipe:

    Prep Time: 45 minutes
    Total Time: 45 minutes
Yield: 1 Punchbowl (16-4 oz servings)
    Ingredients:
    1 quart water
3 orange spice tea bags (I used Celestial Seasonsings Tangerine Orange Zinger Herbal Tea - Caffeine Free - found at the grocery store)
    1/2 cup light brown sugar
    2 cups apple cider
1 1/2 cups Rum (I used Bacardi Select Dark, I added more at the end)
    8 cinnamon sticks
    3 teaspoons butter (1 tablespoon)

    Preparation:
Combine all ingredients in a large pot or kettle.
Heat to a simmer on the stove, stirring well at first.
Cover and continue simmering for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve by ladling into heated Irish coffee glasses or mugs.

How do the tickets work on these things? I've never been to one of these games so I'm not sure how the seats are assigned.

Andrew - welcome! You'll need a ticket for the game in section 309 - The Depot. For the beer tasting you'll need a ticket for just beer or beer + food. Call the box office at[masked] to get tickets sorted out, the go to will-call and ENJOY. We've got many of our own brewing, so we should be easy to find. I will have a bright orange hat on, be sure to say Hi!

Hey all. For those of you who are not partaking in the Firewurst meal deal (and those of you who are but need more to eat), I'm firing up the grill and bringing a bunch of hot dogs and some bratwurst.

Sweet Stout turned out well, Sally and Donna give their approval to the Wild Berry Wheat.

WooHoo! Looks like the competition is ON! :-)

Robert, Greg - are we going to do this the same as last year, with a grilling/TSF tailgate area behind the beer tables?

    October 20, 2013

    • Mark N.

The behind-the-tables tailgate was very convenient. I will bring tables as usual and the TSF grill.

We will have an additional canopy also

      October 21, 2013

  • Sheila V.

Last year TSF had the smarts to set up a couple tents on the fringe of the event (good thing b/c it rained). May I request the same? I'd also like a non-hoppy beer...and a designated driver ;o)

    September 30, 2013

    • Mark N.

Ken and myself are bringing canopy's

      October 16, 2013

    • Sheila V.

Robert, if you or Tyler can still be my designated driver, then perhaps Emily & Randall could ride from my house too? Then y'all can chill out on my deck or even crash in the guest room

      October 16, 2013

  • Emily C.

Who is making a sweet-ish, non-hoppy beer, so I know which one I can drink too much of? ;)

    September 29, 2013

    • Robert C.

Sounds like Ken's Lights Out Stout, but I guess you'll have a bit of tasting to do in order to confirm. Tough work, but someone has to do it :-)

This is not game related. Alison has decided she doesn't want to attend the nine inch nails concert on 10/21. I've got her ticket if anyone wants to buy it.

    October 14, 2013

  • Gary S.

I assume this takes the place of the tailgate. Where do I buy the tickets and how much are they.

    September 6, 2013

    • Robert C.

Hey Gary! Yeah, the tailgate will be modified for sure for this one! We'll need to wait for more details from the front office on tickets and such. Not sure how many, if any, food vendors are lined up for this one - As soon as I have info, I will update the meetup.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
