About the Restaurant: Bida Manda is a thoughtful gathering place celebrating the diverse food traditions and culture of Laos. Bida Manda is a Sanskrit ceremonial term for father and mother. We named the restaurant Bida Manda to honor our parents in Laos, who instilled in us our love of food and its power to bring people together.
About Laotian Food: Nestled between lush green hills and the Mekong River, Laos’ dynamic cuisine reflects the country’s intimate relationship with nature, its culture of generosity, and its French colonial past. Lao cuisine is a flavorful marriage of Thai, Vietnamese, and Chinese cooking refined by French technique. Our parents’ recipes and fresh local ingredients are the inspirations for Bida Manda’s menu. Every dish on our menu is exactly what we grew up eating. They are the kind of dishes you might find on the street corners of Luang Prabang and at a Laotian home. Come in and go away with us on a sensational culinary journey to Laos.
