This month we're back at WebAssign where Jeremy Schulman of Juniper is going to clue us all in on what Software Defined Networking (SDN) is, why it matters, and how software is eating the (networking) world.
"A Networking View for the DevOps Crew: Software Defined Networking: WTF? or BFD":
Cloud is to Servers as SDN is to Networking - What does it all mean to DevOps? For non-networking folks, the "Network" is like a vast ocean where we see only the waves but know there is a much bigger thing going on down below. Jeremy Schulman will be your "Jacque Cousteau" and take your on his personal guided tour of Software Defined Networking. There will be no commercials.
Jeremy Schulman is the Director of Automation Concept Engineering at Juniper Networks. He splits his time between working in the field with customers helping them understand how to 'automate the network' and leading a small development team to create tools and technologies to further those efforts. Jeremy has been in the networking industry for 20 years, first as a software engineer, and then in other sales and business development roles. He was responsible for leading the team that produced the first Puppet agent running natively on an Ethernet switch. He now focuses much of his time building a Python microframework for enabling Networking Engineers (non-programmers) to do automation tasks (without being a programmer).
As is our normal routine, doors open at 6:45 pm with pizza provided. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
