Married, programmer at Duke, 2 kids. Was a serious runner, 17 marathons, Godiva track club member. Now just a fitness runner. Just waiting to meet the right pair of used skates.
I've been to one ATT skate but did not make it far because skates were too big. Now skating regularly on Ellerbe Creek Trail with skates that fit.
I'm skating on bike paths, roads, parkinglots. I'm still avoiding the black diamond slopes. Need some more instruction. I've tried the Flex Brake and they work well, but my skate frame geometry causes pads to rub a bit on the bearings, so I'm experimenting with modifications.
Yes, hill climbing and downhill speed reduction. Would like to add skating to my 7mile run/bike commute to work and work my way up to Athens-to-Atlanta
Now wearing K2 Fit 80 with wheel and bearing upgrades from thrift store skates.
I started rink skating on quads in 4th grade. As an adult, taking my kids rink skating a couple times a year. The summer of 2013, plantar fasciitis hit due to running over-training. I bought inline skates as an alternative, and skated an hour a day and made the transition from quads. Now (fall/winter 2013), skating when I can find daylight, routes that are dry and free of leaves/ branches/pine cones/ rocks. Looking for a free Saturday to attend a meetup event.
